early step on Tea with Latifa

the last couple of days i have been making really good progress on my Afghanistan Inspiration piece ( now known as "Tea with Latifa" - TWL for short) i've been dithering for a long time, delaying the moment when i took my first irreversible step - but today i finally broke the barrier.... i hand made the background felt, cut out some of the felt motifs to be applied and roughed out the layout - today i started to attach some of the motifs, the tea pots, and stitched the outline for the trailing flower stems i feel much happier with it now - i think the time i spent doodling with the design ideas on the computer was well spent as i had some idea of what i didn't want - but the breakthrough came with the change of overall shape from a square to a 'landscape' rectangle, somehow things started to fit into place better
