autumn is moving closer to winter and we've started lighting the stove regularly now - i've been enjoying stitching my summer quilt in front of the cosy glow - i pieced the strips together by hand and machine, with bias cut from a check blouse ... the colour dense bias works well on the more subdued quilted pieces

i underestimated the width of the combined strips so i'm doing some more - a matching pair from one piece of fabric which i 'hapazomed' with leaf stems from the creeper on our garage i added some partial leaf prints in one section of the fabric, most of the leaves were to big to be used whole here

last week inspiration for my christmas cards finally arrived and i went into production - one design only this year, but i've dipped into my stash of colored papers and card to vary the materials - about time i started using some of the papers ive made over the last few years - the design also lends itself well to year round use so there will be more to come

also i've joined a new online class with jude hill, Cloth to Cloth - i've mentioned her work before and it continues to influence the summer quilt - also i thought her cloth weaving technique would form a starting point for my PHC memory piece .....

...... i've just seen this, what an amazing structure
