first cloth weave

C2C started a couple of days ago so i have done my first woven base

i used a variety of weights of cottons silks and linen + a piece of synthetic crushed velvet on a muslin base - i've basted it and await the next lesson - i like the way the pattern of the fabric below shows through the lightweigh strips - the piece has a really soft handle at this stage

meanwhile i did another with strips of mum's patchwork floral leftovers woven into an old table napkin - i'm handstitching the pieces into place so that these construction stiches show in the finished piece - the floral strips are new fabric so don't feel as soft as the napkin

i'm staying with mum in eastbourne at the moment, when i get home i hope to make a couple more weaves ....... possible one monochrome and one white, at least one of which will have strips of different widths and one with an uneven weave ..... watch this space
