a grand day out

for no reason at all i've been avoiding posting for over a week - suddenly i seem to be doing more and can't quite believe it, so now i'm trying to have some quiet, restful time so that i don't crash disastrously

last week was a bit of a landmark ..... mick and i took the train (our first train trip together!) down to london with my scooter (my first train excursion with the scooter), we were headed for the museum of london and the Cheapside Hoard exhibition - the exhibition was excellent .... the layout, the stunning jewellery, the additional exhibits, the written and audio-visual information .... everything -  i kept having to remember to close my mouth as i was almost drooling over the cases of exquisite items - it was busy but not crowded, the other visitors were friendly, we were all so awed that normal british reserve broke down and we were talking to each other!

after that mick guided me around the area, it's a part of london i didn't get to know while i lived there, and there has been so much development too - unfortunately it was colder than we expected but at least that meant we didn't do more than i should, it was lovely to be roaming around, exploring with mick as he knows all sorts of interesting routes and spots from his days as a courrier

one of the best things about the day was that we realised how easy it can be for us to get to london and get about together, with me on my scooter, as long as i can check out access beforehand online

....... next time Boro at somerset house and the inns of court, with photos i hope
