another show

i finally completed and handed in my TOT2 piece earlier this week

i am happy with the final outcome - i know it could be more polished and perfect, but i want it to be touchable, for people to handle it

i am pleased with the spine work, it allows the book to open flat - i wonder if the tape and thread i used are strong enough in the long run? but it won't be handled much unless it goes on permanent exhibition, which is unlikely

of course i had to put my signed square on the first page - the stitching for that was probably the easiest part of the whole project

i have amazed myself by doing some very small and neat stitching, even using a magnifying lens for some parts as my eyes don't do fine detail any more and my glasses weren't up to the task - the front cover was especially challenging as i could not remake it if i got it wrong

the rest of the book is here

i haven't seen all the other pieces made for the project yet, but what i have seen is really impressive - there were far more participants this year - i don't know how they will fit everything into the space

actually it's not quite completed ... each page has a pocket to hold a picture of the work made by the people who's signatures are on the squares or a few words about the meaning of the squares i made - but i haven't got pictures of all the works yet - so a few inserts are incomplete, i hope to be able to finish them after the exhibition opens on monday
