this is going much faster than i thought it would - thanks to the practise samples i have a good feel for how i want this to develop - the edging beads were hard work, but working on the central hearts is easier



three hearts for Simone,Marthe and Jean, initials next then more forget-me-nots ....... and the fleur de lis

then flip over and tidy the edge of the backing material - the trim is vintage french woven design ribbon, i have seen it used to trim the edges of men's nightshirt collars and cuffs - just the sort of thing Marie Would have used on Adelphe's night shirt, and maybe those of the children

make the numbers a bit clearer - day 0936, i make that late january/early february 1917 - i think i will check that to try and get a more precise reckoning


then it's back to the front to add the final motifs
