although i could not get going with my "main" piece the market produce theme seems to have grabbed me - as i often do, i have been sampling styles and techniques
the fifties style was the starting point then i got into text, which i usually avoid
phrases and market stall labels came to mind - i worked them in different fonts and stitches, with the uneven quality of my stitching reflecting the handwritten market labels
the final square, inspired by a graphic from an advert in the newspaper, is cross-sections through fruit and veg in appliqué, with an Anne Kelly influence - it's more regimented than i intended, but i know why it didn't work the way i intended - i may try to use that idea in a different piece another time
