catch-up time
o.k., it's been a while since i posted .... august and september have been a bit weird as we've had to spend a lot of time down in eastbourne with mum, sorting things out after dad died - but i'm not going to go into all that as this is my creative reflection space
being away from home has of course influence what i've been able to do - the limit on what i can take with me in the caravan is pretty low! but it makes me think carefully about what i could do and i can concentrate on small items and low technology
during august i found working on the final stages of 'Tea with Latifa' very soothing, the finishing work was more challenging but by then i was at home with appropriate equipment - i was pleased with the finished piece, the wiggly felt edging really tied it all together for me
writing the accompanying 'statement' was a bit of a struggle, i wanted to keep it simple and think i achieved that - anyway i parceled it all up and now i just have to wait & see if it is selected for the european tour ....... watch this space .....
meanwhile i've also been having fun with the next part of holey moley - we've moved onto lines now (see slideshow) and i've been beavering away with running stitch:
and since i got home i've been able to get the sewing machine out again and combine paper, fabric and stitch while ignoring all the rules of colour theory - i really enjoyed making it up as i went along and watching layers appear and disappear:
it's good to be home
