a lucet in lincoln
i forgot to mention my encounter with historic recreators at lincoln castle in august - some of the women were using and demonstrating lucets, these are two pronged fork-like implements used to make cords - these used to be very necessary for many domestic purposes like doing up clothes and attaching objects - most smooth types of yarn and thread could be used to make a very strong cord
it's very simple as it only involves the thread and the lucet and of course very portable so you can do it anywhere
so i bought a lucet and started to play around - the one i bought turned out to be a bit chunky so i made a lighter one out of a wooden spoon

it's all very well making lots of cord but then what? so i made some short lengths from a variety of yarns and turned them into a necklace

now what?
