revisiting the past

a rare post unconnected with stitch & cloth - i have been on a little trip back in time, to leamington for the funeral of john bright senior (as we know him) - of course it involved more than just a funeral .... it was memories of childhood, friends and neighbours and whole chapters of my life

it was wonderful to meet up with a friend from infant school days who i had missed so much when she transferred to a different school, we surprised each other with the memories we had held onto and the names of classmates we remembered

it was good to see the bright family all together, some of whom i had last seen as a babe-in-arms and toddlers, now a confident a young woman and established middle aged men with many chapters of their own lives ahead of and behind them

and it was an opportunity to revisit the site where we scattered guillaume's ashes .... remember the brother i had and mourn again the brother i had always hoped would come back but never could, he's the one i will always miss along with the father who wasn't really there

sometimes grief remembered is warmer somehow and kinder, therapeutic maybe somehow too.

some losses just never fade away
