bubbling away on the boiler doiley

this hung around for while i pondered over the next step - it needed some movement and texture - i wanted a spirallly thing so actually took some time to do some sketches and what-ifs

how to do the spiral?
cords?
thin strips?
satin stitch?
 no...
some chunky frankenstitch buttonhole in different coloured threads
(eco-dyed of course)

but the balance was wrong ..... the 'pojagi' style section looked too much as though it was tacked on as an afterthought, which it sort of was - so i cut the top off the original piece and added it to the bottom of the 'pojagi' + weaves - just as well it worked!

i had made little scrap 'flits' to dot around so they were good as punctuations on the spiral
i had also been playing with some gathered strips but they needed a punctuation mark too .... so they got little triangles in bright colours - i might make bigger ones, it's all attached temporarily at the moment but i really like the way it's going
