i know it's been quiet here and it's time i filled some gaps
the third book doiley got completed - after dithering for a while over the edging i decided on a neat finish with machine and hand stitching - made my own bias-binding from the same fabric as the printed cloth and attached a book-mark - it's already been used and i can alternate it with my eco-dyed one, depending on the size of the book
i've been spending a lot of time getting to grips with my computerized embroidery machine - the big attraction is that it has software which allows me to digitize my own designs & images for conversion into stitch - it was also very good value and i knew it had been well looked after by it's first owner
getting to grips with the software has been a little challenging - early experiments were helpful in highlighting some of it's advantages and deficiencies and i quickly realized that i needed something else to get the results i was looking for - luckily someone out there has kindly come up with just the thing i needed at a very reasonable price so i treated myself a bit more! so far i am pleased with my early experiments
getting a bit seasonal i started on a christmas doiley-cloth using some eco-dyed scraps - i didn't seem to have any hand-stitching on the go (apart from all the UFOs tucked away in corners i seem to ignore) and i need something soothing to do while my brain cogitates over Threads of Time - i haven't done a christmas piece before so this will be another first to tick off!
and a couple of days ago i made a new wreath for our front door - a bit more colourful than usual
and i've made us a new wreath for the door - a bit less traditional but entirely made materials i already had - more recycling in action
