i've just spent 4 days on a workshop with
alice fox at
art van go - wonderful
the focus was found objects and using them with paper and fabric - alice guided us through a range of processes and stages:
|
paper and fabric bundles ready for steaming |
- mark making on paper and fabric, using rusty items, tea and plant material
|
rusty nails, paper, tissue & tea |
|
wire wool, paper
& tea |
- leaf rubbings and prints onto tissue and paper
- stitching found objects onto and into surfaces in different ways
- layering papers and fabric with wax
|
for scale |
- combining found objects with the surfaces we created in a variety of formats
there was no planned end product but i've come away with a new appreciation of how i can use book forms and book making techniques, a refreshed interest in eco-dyeing and loads of ideas on how to use the lovely surfaces i made as well as stuff i already have
i'll probably post more of the pieces i make with the papers and fabrics - i'm working on a couple more small books, so i'll see how they go
