a grand day out
a trip to Yorkshite Sculpture Park this week proved to be well worthwhile for both of us today - first the installation in the chapel "Beyond Time" by Chiharu Shiota was wondrous - it was a very sunny day so the lighting contrasts in the chapel were strong, playing on the webb of yarn and casting lacy shadows on the stone flagged floor
and an explosion of yarn and sheet music:
more of these here |
then, after blundering around a bit, trying to match the 3D landscape and tracks around us with the flat map, we eventually found the Skyspace - on such a sunny cloudless day it was a blue square, even the numerous vapour trails managed not to pass over it while we were there - but i was happy to have been there
the unexpected surprise was Giuseppe Penone's "A Tree In The Wood" - so glad we bumbled into that one
photos can't do justice to the lightning struck tree which dominated the skyline - the sun on it that day really made it Shine Brilliantly
and even half of Matrice was awesome:
a hard act to follow
