Hundertwasser style chard

i started thinking about his piece a couple of years ago - our neighbours gave us some gorgeous rainbow chard from their allotment, i had to photograph it before cooking it, the colours and textures were so wonderful!
i manipulated some of the photos a bit and started to try and develop a stitched piece on a workshop with Pauline Verrinder, but i wasn't very happy with where it was going

eventually a spark came from Holey Moley in the form of Dale's Hundertwasser inspired piece - i tried the technique out in white yarns and it gave wonderful texture - next i dyed a whole bunch of yarns to get a variety of the colours i wanted

i made my base fabric with chiffon and a sheer sandwiched with coloured nappy liner and fusible mesh ..... and i started to stitch

i really enjoyed building up the texture and colours, blending several threads to get different shades, highlighting with beads and metallic threads for extra glimmer - i feel i have come very close to achieving what i was aiming for and i'm rather pleased with myself!
