in the garden
today the weather was perfect for working in the garden - i have been coming across references to hapazome recently and needed to break up a blank piece of fabric intended for my summer quilt, so i decided to try it out
fortunately there are still plenty of tender green bits in the garden so source material was easy

the japanese name makes it sound like some complex mystical process but it's really very simply - place leaf or petal between 2 pieces of paper or fabric and hit repeatedly with a small hammer, the result is a surprisingly delicate print in natural colours - i've no idea how they will last
