print day

recenly i got the urge to try some screen printing, mainly as a result of looking through Committed To Cloth books - mick made me some good solid frames which i finished off with curtain voile and lavish use of the staple gun

the aim was to try deconstructed/breakdown printing a la jane dunnewold, so i prepared two screens with dye paste and off i went - i though it was going to be really tricky and fraught with complications but.... it wasn't .... and i'm really pleased with my first attempts - they're nothing sensational but it's nice to try a technique which give interesting results so quickly

and it also lends itself so well to digital manipulation

what great results for a first try!! I love Jane Dunnwold's work and have three of her books. it was quite special to see her demonstrating her silk screening at the Quilt Festival and have been keen to give it a try but the screens are so expensive. what did mick use for the frames he made for you Eva? the voile works as well as silk from the results you achieved. Great blog. first time I have visited.
