october drifting
i've been enjoying working on my summer quilt, all the fabrics i've used are soft and well used which makes them a pleasure to stitch into - i've done quite a lot of running stitch and back stitch, surprised myself with how fine and precise i can make my stitching - sticking to simple stitches has been easy for me, the challenge has been in finding different ways to use them on the quilt pieces .... sometimes they follow they pattern on the fabric to enhance or highlight it, other times they are not connected with the fabric pattern and form and independent pattern of their own - i suppose it's a form of sampler like many other pieces i've made so far
i've done enough pieces for the quilt now and have turned them into 6 bands which will be pieced together in parallel - i found a check shirt in fine soft cotton which i have made bias strips from, i'll use these to hold the bands together - the current plan is to machine the bias to one edge of the bands and handstitch the bias to the next band ...... but my plans have a habit of changing
...... and i'm going to have fun manipulating the pics too
