more cloth weaves

i'm getting quite hooked on this cloth-weaving
i did a small white one - i left the frayed white threads dangling from the anchor fabric and hope to couch it down later .... maybe with some tiny beads - this one could turn into a book cover but it's early days yet

then i dipped into my eco-dyed fabrics and combined them with some home dyed indigo linen - i started a bit ambitiously with a long piece of indigo linen, aiming to do a few anchored weaves into it, i did two then decided that i should stay with simpler ideas for now - i'll come back to that when i've built up more skill in the technique
meanwhile i tore off a chunk of the linen and anchored it, down the middle, to a handkerchief and wove fragments of eco dyed cotton into it on each side - the one on the right is a piece of shirt with buttonholes which i aim to feature somehow, the other has smaller weaves anchoring it back into the hankie - i really like the colour combination of cafe-au-lait and hot chocolate with the indigo - i'm tempted to put something very bright down the middle .....i'll see

i also decided to mine my stash of new fabrics, what is the point of hoarding them ..... i bought them to be used after all - so i picked out a couple of african batiks and some commercial print and tie dye to make another straightforward checkerboard

i've also continued doing small anchored weaves into the table napkin and my first weave - more photos later when i get to the next stage ....whatever that is!

It is obvious that this cloth weaving could become quite addictive considering all the variables that are available with fabrics, colour,
textures and weaving patterns!! The white/cream piece is quite beautiful and has an interesting texture even though it appears delicate. I have always liked the colour combination you have used with the indigo piece as I have always found it difficult to find a colour (other than your choice) that goes with indigo. Perhaps it is because it has such a stong depth of colour that it tends to dominate!! It will be interesting to follow your journey with this technique.
