cloth weaves in use
the lack of recent posts doesn't mean i haven't been doing stuff - actually i've been quite busy getting cards done for a small craft fair a couple of weeks ago - i also made some mug-rugs! inspired by C2C i tried to make some useful items and came up with these, a.k.a. coasters
i sold a few at the craft fair and lizzie has really fallen for them, i did some with hearts on with her in mind, sure enough she snapped them up!
i would have liked to hand stitch them but the tightly woven ones (top pic) are too dense, it's a real struggle to get a needle through them - i got lazy and machined the flat ones too, it does make them more hard wearing - if i were making them as a gift for someone special i like to think i would do more hand-stitching on them
they are a really good way of using up scraps of fabric and using up the stash - i've even used t-shirt scraps left over from making a rag-rug
these are mark 1
mark 2 are a thinner flat weave - these are backed with charity shop placemats
i thought these gave a new lease of life to doileys .....?

Love the first ones. It would make a good rig too but guess youd need an industrial sewing machine in that case! lol
