new online class
this
week i started an online class with karen ruane "an
embroiderer's ledger" - the first section was posted a couple of
days ago and i was itching to get stuck in
being
in the caravan for the first three weeks of this class will be a bit
of a mixed blessing - it means i have to rely on the materials i
brought with me, unless i dash out and buy more, but i am pretty
determined to avoid that as i want to use up more of my stash –
the down side is relying on a dongle for broadband access, so far
classes have mostly relied on PDFs, group & blog posting and
occasional short videos – in the first post their were 2 videos
totalling almost 1 hour of viewing, at that rate my allowance would
be used up in no time – fortunately i have made alternative
arrangements with karen, otherwise i would be spending a lot of time
in wifi hotspots
i
have chosen a class which seemed more structured than my usual and
the first section has turned out to be just right for me – it's
made me do something i wouldn't normally take the time to do and
think it through first, also i am trying to keep a written 'journal'
of the process to help me really focus on what i am learning – it
is high time i did more than play around ….. even semi-purposefully
the
first section is a colour matching exercise:
i'm a
bit unhappy that the page is a bit messy due to a problem with
masking tape - i might de-construct it and paste it onto a new page –
otherwise it went well and i would do it again now except that i
haven't got a wide enough range of thread colours, but i suppose i
could start with just the paints etc to practise that part ….. mmm
…. good idea
