online class progress

the embroiderer's ledger class has been completely absorbing and i am way behind - final week (4) materials have arrived and i am still working on week 2, this has been a conscious decision as i wanted to keep going with it and do justice to this section - the class materials will still be there but sadly group participation will probably drop off - but i am determined not to let my butterfly nature flit me off on another tangent, i will really try and see it through, the materials are really stimulating but there's just too much to do in a week - i don't know how the participants with jobs, families and other commitments fit it in!

i've been using my new 'frankenstitch' a bit more:

i've called it knobbly stitch

it's very versatile and i have used it as a filler, edging and attachment stitch - it gives the effect of bouclé yarn without the difficulty of stitching with an uneven thread

my shape and pattern page has come together well, i had to fiddle about a bit to get the overlays in a sequence which fitted and made sense to me, but i'm happy with the result

meanwhile i'm still stitching onto the tissue inserts and attaching the layers to the page
- i am enjoying finding ways of attaching them which allow them to hang loosely
- it's all a long way from neat and tidy!

this has been a very enjoyable class (as always) but i also think that i have made noticeable progress in that i am applying the instruction to working in a style of my choosing rather than mimicking the tutor's style, and i am working outside my usual colour comfort zone, but it still feels good

as always i want to hang on to the group interaction but i feel more confident in my own judgement, thanks in part to all the positive encouragement from the group and here - moving forward feels good
