memory lane
just returned from a trip into the past - a stay in cambridge for the 40th anniversary reunion of the 1973 intake at Homerton - a chance to catch up on old friends and find out a little about some of the ones i never got to know way back then, there were quite a lot of us (around 150 i think)
the last reunion i went to was in 1996 and this time there were quite a few who i really didn't know in the seventies - of the 25 or so who came, some were easily recognized, others had changed more of their appearance over the years, but i remembered almost all of them eventually - i was quite surprised to find out how many of us live in hertfordshire
it was lovely to have a look around the old place again - it has been substantially altered, enlarged and modernised - i'm not sure if it still has the same welcoming, homely feel that it had but it was far from being cold and impersonal, which would have been a great shame - the sunny september weather helped as we were able to enjoy the grounds, which are much more attractive - the planting around the old and new buildings has a softening and blending effect which really enhanced their appearance
and while i was at the caravan site (in the delightful sounding cherry hinton) there must have been some very creative squirrels scampering around under the conker trees!
