threads of time - 9

at last i have started stitching for real, i was really missing my stitch-fix - i returned briefly to the computerized embroidery for an attempt at a lacy piece - had some problems with the tension, resolved by consulting the online oracle (google), it turned out to be mainly fluff in the lower bobbin case, so that should teach me to clean it more regularly - then i got too ambitious and things got a bit sticky so i switched to hand-stitching which has been deliciously soothing and effective

i have assembled a messy collection of printed fabrics and mixed surfaces along with some script details which i am now beginning to lay out as potential arrangements, for further embellishment with hand stitch
part of a potential layout

the clock hands are a late addition and might move to another piece.....?

this one might be added to the layout

detail of the digital stitching with tension problem
i like the whip-stitch effect
but it wasn't meant to happen

a separate piece, "contemporary boro" style
this one will have more script pieces layered over it
- it started out as my relaxation, to make a change from the attention i am giving to creating an exhibition piece - but it seems to be taking on a life of it's own

i am surprised by how absorbed i am with this project and how much time i am devoting to it - last night i found myself creeping out of bed to rearrange the layout

this is really exciting work look forward to seeing the pictures from the exhibition, my favourite is the last photo, the layers are speaking of deep time and lost languages and more...
