last weekend i had the opportunity to attend a workshop with Michael Brennand-Wood - this was on the last day of his exihibition in Letchworth so he also talked us round the show - much more interesting than reading about the works in a catalogue - i still don't understand how anyone can cram so much meaning into one piece of work!

anyway, after a slow start got into gear and ended up making 2 pieces - they felt quite separate to me but michael superimposed them and they just looked right - unfortunately they aren't conceptual or full of meaning

the top one started as a way of using some of my stash of collected bits & bobs, although it also reflects various stages in my recent stitching life

the obects i had brought with me to include didn't look right in the frame provided so i assembled a lighter one, in a bodgy style (sort of homage to dad)

the second one, underneath, is more of a playful colourful composition - both were useful as exercises in some of the techniques which can be used for this sort of piece - i can see myself using this approach again, maybe even soon with some ecodyed materials and more objects
