book-wrap finished
i can honestly say that i have enjoyed making this piece from start to finish - i usually hit a point where i wish i hadn't started or get stuck or bored, but not this time - it's been completely absorbing
the bit that slowed me down briefly was expanding into the white border - that daunting clean space, it's always a bit of a barrier somehow - but stitching on some buttonhole rings helped, i just had to fill or surround them
the final touch was the lining - i had originally intended to use a patchwork of ecodyed cloth - but my neighbour turned up with some old table linen of his parents, one of the damask linen napkins had some lovely patched spots - to me it spoke of such care that i felt this was the right one to reclaim - better still it was the perfect size for the job - it also added another white border which i preferred to the extra colours of the intended patchwork
