steady progress on Yorkshire

slow but steady, i'm getting there

i worked out how to edge the felt, whithout causing much more shrinkage 

so i moved on to adding the little glimpses of Yorkshire 

i have tried to echo the way the houses are terraced up the steep roads, 

particularly in west yorkshire

the glimpses are from my photos taken in yorkshire

digitally collaged and printed onto laminated gauze and tissutex

torn into fragments, bundled and stitched together with copper wire 

found by mick on one of his bike rides

making the background was a bit of fun

this was originally going to be plain

but i wanted to incorporate maps with locations which hold memories for both of us

so on old ordnance survey map and part of a superceded west yorkshire street atlas were sacrificed for a collage

well crumpled and with a wash of diluted white

i love trying to find the places i remember
