wlhemina develops
a much more enjoyable process than i had expected - a long way from the standard of some of my fellow EG members but nevertheless very satisfying for me to have got this far and still feel like carrying on
i have struggled a little with the position of the couching lines (the threads running across the solid colour blocks - i find it tricky to gett them parallel where they need to be and easing them round curves
i think the issue with the curve is accentuated by the colour variation on the yarn, which emphasises the direction of the laid base stitches - but maybe i am just trying to find excuses
i have added some of my own variegated yarns: the trellis couching on the legs in autumnal green/brown to give a scaly texture - and the purple for the top of the head (a bit like a punky quiff!)
slight claws have also been added to the toes, after all she is a devious dragon!
once the band on the wing is done i will be ready to start the split stitch outline - i dread this as i have not enjoyed trying this stitch in the past - but that is an important part of a challenge
